Good planning involves timing. To help you decide the best time to improve your grain storage operation we offer the following guidelines:
Before the harvest rush. It is obvious to install a bin before harvest and this also applies to a control system because often high value is accumulated in the first few weeks during and following harvest. This is at least partially because doing a good job in the beginning sets the stage for easier and less expensive actions (e.g., more fan time) later. Also the highest return may be earned if the control system enables speeding up the harvest (e.g. dumping wetter grain from a dryer).
However, value can be obtained with post harvest installations; readiness for the next season may be enhanced and tax implications may contribute to proceeding in a particular year.
Installation. Allow for the availability of your electrician. The TGM System installation is straight forward (not plug and play – it is hardwired to a dedicated power source) and not labor intensive but requires a professional installation for long term satisfaction and compliance with applicable standards.
Selection. The steps involved to benefit from Networked Grain Aeration™ offered by TGM are as follows:
Register as a potential subscriber. There is no obligation. Contact from TGM consists of an email acknowledgement and does not commit you in any manner.
Your registration sets up an account so you can sign in and out as it suits you. Once registered enter the grain storage sites and the bins at each site with the tools provided to help evaluate potential performance increases and ROI. Any entries will be saved and you can edit them later.
The tools available will help you determine the CFM per bushel your bins provide and estimate fill rates for different moisture content grain as well as what MC will exceed your airflow capacity. These steps will help you determine how your operation can benefit from Networked Grain Aeration.
Availability. The TGM System is tailored to your needs. Components are modular and do not require specialized technicians to install and set up. However a professional installation by your electrician assures optimum performance. Please allow adequate time prior to harvest for this part.
Your input is required to determine what works best in your situation. Good planning that includes current operations and future expansion are straight forward decisions but often this process depends on other factors that may take a while.
After final selections, TGM requires time to provision network and data center resources necessary to maintain the required levels of security and privacy. TGM will provide estimates for delivery and provisioning during your selection process. Additionally a back order situation of any of the components may stretch out the order/delivery timeframe.
