Sentry PAC owners seeking system inspection or service: There is a minimum charge of $95 for systems out of warranty. If repairs are more than a few additional dollars we will call and provide you your options. Please include your name, address, and phone number along with a brief description of the problem. If lightning is suspected please indicate so, and whether or not other items were damaged in the same incident. Descriptions can be as simple as “dead”, “missing display segment”, “check out”, or “please call for details after receipt”.

Sensor Issues: The expected life for the relative humidity sensor shipped prior to 2010 is 3 — 5 years. Ordering a sensor board and replacing it yourself usually clears up any problems.
The best way to check RH accuracy is with an instrument such as a sling psychrometer. Radio reports may not be applicable to your location since RH may be extremely variable over distance and time.
A seat of the pants method is to observe the RH reading when a heavy fog exists at cooler temperatures. If the reading is 97 — 99%, high reliance can be had that lower readings are accurate. Readings below 50% may not be reliable since the sensor is tuned to the range of 50 — 80% which is when operating decisions are most important.
Readings as low as in the 70's may be observed during summer showers since the rain may be falling through dryer air. Thus during a rain shower low readings and even fan operation may occur and be the correct action. This will usually occur after a front moves through and the temperature has dropped significantly.
Instructions to return a PAC for repair or check out.
It is not necessary nor preferable to ship the outside enclosure. Instead please follow these general guidelines:
►Remove the face panel. It is not necessary to return the face panel unless the push buttons do not work
►Unplug the wire connections in the lower right corner.
►Do not remove the circuit boards from the aluminum chassis
►Remove the 4 screws in the four corners that hold the aluminum chassis
►Put the chassis into a plastic bag
►Place the chassis into a shipping box and surround with material like 'peanuts'
